+ 1 Exoscale is a Swiss-headquartered, fully European-owned public cloud (8 zones across Switzerland, Germany, Austria and Bulgaria) built for teams that need GDPR + Swiss data-protection compliance without touching US hyperscalers. Every new account is automatically credited 20 EUR or 20 CHF (depending on currency) the moment a credit card is saved and the account is switched into Post-paid Billing mode. Credit is usable across the full Exoscale catalog: Compute (incl. GPU instances), SKS managed Kubernetes, DBaaS (Postgres, MySQL, OpenSearch, Valkey/Redis-compatible, Kafka), Object Storage, Block Storage and Networking.

+ 13 • Switches the Organization to Post-paid Billing mode

+ 14 • Pre-authorizes 20 EUR/20 CHF on the card (held, not charged — released by the issuer typically within 30 days or end of month)

+ 15 7. The 20 EUR/CHF free credit appears in the Organization wallet immediately and can be spent on any Exoscale service.

+ 18 Important:

+ 19 • Credit is per Organization, not per user. If you want a second slice you would need a separate Organization with separate billing details.
No comments on this line yet.
+ 20 • If you exceed 20 EUR/CHF the credit card is billed for the overage. If you stay under, nothing is charged and you can close the account at zero cost.

+ 21 • VoIP / virtual cards may be rejected during the pre-authorization check.

+ 22 • Pre-paid Billing mode (top-up vouchers) does not trigger the 20 EUR/CHF welcome credit — Post-paid Billing is required.

+ 70 • The 20 EUR/CHF is not a marketing campaign credit — it is the standard, ongoing welcome credit for any new Post-paid account. Provider docs note Exoscale may expire offered credit at its discretion if abused, but in normal use the credit is available immediately and remains usable.
No comments on this line yet.
+ 71 • No "trial duration" timer like AWS / GCP — there is no 30-day or 90-day clock. Spend it whenever you want; the wallet just sits there.
No comments on this line yet.
+ 72 • Credit cannot be cashed out and is not transferable between Organizations.
No comments on this line yet.
+ 73 • Pre-paid voucher mode is a separate path — only use Post-paid + saved card to claim the welcome credit.

+ 74 • Account closure is self-service from the Organization settings; if you never exceed the credit, you owe nothing.

+ 75 • Identity / fraud checks can occasionally trigger manual review for accounts opened from outside Europe — be ready to email support with a quick description of your use case if this happens.

+ 81 • Sovereign by design: Swiss + EU only, no US parent.

+ 82 • Predictable pricing: flat hourly rates, no egress overage shock — outbound bandwidth on Compute is generously included per instance.

+ 83 • Native Terraform / Pulumi providers, full REST API, and S3-compatible object storage make migration from AWS straightforward.

+ 86 For pure prototyping the 20 EUR/CHF will not last long, but it is enough to spin up an SKS cluster + DBaaS Postgres + an object storage bucket and benchmark the platform end-to-end before committing.

+ 92 • Use the pricing calculator before launching a GPU instance — burn rate matters when you only have 20 EUR.

+ 93 • Tag every resource and set a billing alert in the Portal so you know exactly when the welcome credit is depleted.

+ 94 • For longer-running open-source / research workloads, contact Exoscale sales — they occasionally grant additional credit for community projects, but this is discretionary and not a published program.

+ 95 • Exoscale has no free tier beyond this welcome credit — once it is gone, every resource is billed at standard hourly rates.
